Mt God - is it that long since I wrote anything??? I never realised how long it has been - mind u have moved house after death of ageing parent and taking a bit of time coming to terms with new house - living with surviving parent etc. Life has its up and downs - kitchen not my own - and I never thought i liked the cooking that much! never realised I was quite so anal about cleaning either! Someone else making a mess in the kitchen drives me to distraction - but how to clean it without upsetting others?
Sometimes its great that another person is preparing food for me - especially if work has been stressful - but changing established methods of cooking is proving a bit of an upward curve - old style comfort food is not what I want - or need - all the time!
Taking things in turn does not always work either - parents have established routines which they don't like to break - so how often do I bite my tongue to keep life sweet?

I really must focus!

Well - the title says it all! I am fiddling while Rome burns - a favourite pastime of mine! trying out new machines - ideas for tops - but not finishing anything.
I am going to force myself to become more selfish and say - it's my time now - everything else can wait.
House on market - garden tidy - so what stops me doing my stuff?
I must get some stuff finished to get on Etsy - otherwise I will feel gutted that I am so easily distracted.
Hypnotherapy working I think - feel a little less fraught, but battling with the positive side of what I want to do and getting on with it - and negative re. soooh little time, so much to do.
More work - less thinking about it - just get on.

Back to school!

Well - it's here - start of a new term. Not a bad start - but it took me a couple of lessons to get into the swing of things - surprising how u get out of the habit!
Feeling fine - and after a session of hypnotherapy - the imaginery lump in my throat seems a lot easier.
Don't know what she actually said to me - but what the heck - I feel better!
Made a final decision - moving house to buy old family home and keep Mum happy and not worried about having to sleep on her own - just got to sell ours now.

Last Bank Holiday Action

Just checking in before the August holiday starts - been in to school today to help with enrolling the new 6th. form intake.
It made me think - oh no - only a week to go and I'll be back to it!
This weekend is hopefully going to be a gardening project event, and then the rest of the next week is finishing new stuff to put onto Etsy site. I just need to force myself to be a little more organised and controlled with my time. I realise that in holiday mode - I actually like wasting my time! Probably because I can. therefore I will probably make more in the coming weeks than I have in all my 6 weeks of "official" holiday - how perverse is that?
Anyway - got 3/4 corsets to make and some ideas for simple bags to create. Got some organza type fabric I need to use up and seen some ideas I can adapt. Will post the pics as they go onto Etsy!

Gone back to momma!

Well - so much for a motorhome!
After in depth discussion - it's been returned - we've lost money - but at least it won't be sitting on our drive reproaching us for not using it - all that money etc. etc.
A sensible action I think to sell it back - a shame hubby can't sleep in it - but what the heck. As long as he keeps to his premise that we can go to hotels for the same money it was costing us - and that he WILL take time off from work, I will go with the status quo.
Anyway, after numerous talks with others we realise that it seems a lot of people have agreed that if the idea didn't work - why torture yourselves with keeping on trying to use a motorhome. Possibly a sign of our growing maturity - that we agreed so easily to it going!
Oh dear - maturity and being sensible - not necessarily what we want to be.

Oh happy holidays!

Well - back from France - very wet and very tired. The new motorhome went really well - but it is not for us!
Pete has spent the whole time coughing and wheezing - obviously something in the van - or the atmosphere of the campsites triggers off a latent asthmatic tendency. He used to be like this when we went camping with the kids - but of course you forget.
Anyway - I suspect its back to the drawing board for us - and back to Glossop Caravans with the vehicle.
It was hard work - French sites were poor, and we went to 2 recommended by the AA. We must be too picky. I have to say that Versailles was fantastic and I'm so glad we managed to go there. It was touch and go because never have I seen such rain and thunder and lightning. We went back the next day - early and queued to get in.
One tip for anyone going to Versailles - GET THERE AT 9 AM.
Chartres was atmospheric too. Paris and the Peripherique was diabolical and French road signage/directions are absolutely impossible to fathom - and I'm good at map reading usually! We turned tail and headed for home early.
Went to Canterbury Cathedral on the way back and I thought it was fantastic - even the sun came out for us.
A bit of a blow to find we'd been away in the one week we've had gorgeous weather here!
Typical.
Anyway - its back to thinking about ideas for sewing - and doing them too!
A few more days with Pete doing our own thing and then I'm going to get moving with the old sewing.

Well done Kate!

I have got to hand it to my daughter Kate - she is a good organiser - of herself and others.
I took a corset to her yesterday for her to upload on my etsy site to get it started - and lo and behold, 24 hours later and there are 2 of my corsets up for sale!
I think they look good - even though I do say so myself - and all the credit is to Kate because she is trying to teach this old dog some new tricks.
It's just that it takes me so long these days to learn any new tricks at all.

Welcome to my blog!
It will be naff to start with until I get to grips with what to do!
Expect the ramblings of a woman who has boxes of fabrics under her bed - has a work room that is permanently untidy (sorry I meant busy!!) with pics cut out of mags and pinned all over my wall board.......ideas.....ideas!

Together with rumblings from a middle-aged teacher who thinks it's about time she gave it up - the younger staff are too free and easy!
